As a firm, we are actively engaged in and committed to the communities in which we live and work. The many causes we support include:
At this very moment, one in two families in the Midlands of South Carolina falls near or below the poverty line. It is a reality that is crippling our communities, tearing apart families, and preventing individuals from ever realizing their potential.
Based in Columbia, SC, The Cooperative Ministry works to lift these human beings, providing emergency aid and removing the barriers that stand between them and success. With a focus on cultural literacy and a commitment to addressing root cause, it is the organization’s mission to stamp out poverty, to move every family in the Midlands of South Carolina closer to the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency.
We have chosen to highlight Cooperative Ministry on our website because of the critical work they do in Columbia, and hope that you, too, will support their important cause.
Riverbanks Zoo first opened its gates to the local community on April 25, 1974, and has continued over four decades to provide individuals, families and groups with a common place to connect with and learn about the world's wildlife and wild places. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1973, Riverbanks is also the site of structural remains dating back to the early 1800s with South Carolina's textile industry and the Civil War. Historic ruins can be seen from various locations along the footbridge linking the Zoo and Garden as well as along the Woodlands Walk nature trail.
David Hodges is a member of the Riverbanks Society, a 501(c)(3) arm of the zoo.
Richland Library is helping people find jobs, get ready for and succeed in school, and access technology and resources. As society shifts to a digitally enhanced dialogue, the library has become equal parts high tech and high touch. On average each day, more than 8,500 people visit the 11 library locations throughout Richland County.
The Richland Library Foundation works to make a great library better by providing annual giving opportunities and developing philanthropic support for the library. David serves on the Richland Library Foundation Board.
Central Carolina Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that links charitable people and businesses with areas of need in the Midlands. The Foundation emerged in 1984 with a vision to establish itself as the central resource for philanthropy in the Midlands. Since then, through the generosity of its donors, the Foundation has given more than $90 million to organizations nationwide and has invested time and resources in identifying the critical needs within our community.
Through innovative partnerships, comprehensive collections, and stimulating exhibits and programs, The South Carolina State Museum provides educational environments that entertain, inspire imagination and creativity, and enrich the lives of visitors.
